Every morning, five tech stories in five minutes. What happened in AI, cloud, security and the internet, explained so you get it — and can explain it to someone else. Gabriel brings the news with all his enthusiasm. Lina isn't buying it that easily. Together they cut through the noise, add context and tell you why it matters, minus the jargon. For anyone who wants to stay in the loop without reading twenty tabs before their coffee. A Dongee podcast. Episodes and sources at dongee.com/en/podcast.

Today: GPT-6 Astra edits Qwen's weights, Anthropic warns it could be close to an AI that speeds up its own development, Marvell buys Lumentum, The New York Times sues Brave, and spyware alerts on German lawmakers' iPhones.

1. MIT researchers gave OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra the weights of Qwen, a small Alibaba model, and asked it to make it better at math without training it: it changed fewer than two in every ten thousand weights and went from less than 8% right to almost half. It's a blog post, not a study reviewed by other scientists. 2. Anthropic, the company behind Claude, wrote in its paperwork to go public that its estimates about future models indicate it could imminently reach its threshold of progress dramatically accelerated by AI; it says no current model has crossed it. 3. Marvell is buying laser maker Lumentum for 115 billion dollars paid in stock, one of the biggest deals in tech history; Marvell fell about 13% that same day and Lumentum fell even more. 4. The New York Times sued the Brave browser for copying its articles and selling them to AI companies, with an index of more than thirty billion pages; three other US newspapers filed a similar lawsuit. Brave hasn't responded yet. Source: https://nytco-assets.nytimes.com/2026/11/new-york-times-brave-complaint-11-2-26.pdf https://www.theverge.com/tech/1024588/brave-lawsuit-ai-scraping-new-york-times
5. Several members of Germany's parliament and government got Apple alerts on their iPhones about attempts to spy on them with programs sold to governments; Germany's cybersecurity agency says to assume the phone may have been compromised.
Today: Elon Musk admits Grok Bot was too expensive to run, OpenAI renames its data centers, South Korea puts AI at the center of its budget, a Lenovo “encrypted” USB drive that wasn't, and the Trigger.dev hack.

1. Elon Musk admitted on X that running Grok Bot, the xAI agent, had an unsustainably high cost compared to what it brings in, after customers complained about hitting their weekly limit early. Source: https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence/1024272/elon-musk-appears-to-have-throttled-grok-bot-for-being-unsustainably-expensive
2. OpenAI wants to call its data centers “AI compute campuses,” Axios reported, as part of a political push with deals with communities; Chris Lehane, its head of global affairs, says communities should hold companies accountable. Source: https://www.axios.com/2026/11/01/scoop-openai-post-midterm-policy
3. South Korea presented the biggest budget in its history, with AI at the center: President Lee Jae-myung set aside about sixteen billion dollars for chips, AI robots and data centers, almost double this year. Source: https://en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20261102000952315
4. A Lenovo USB drive with a fingerprint reader, sold as encrypted, turned out to be a plain memory card with no encryption; the same researcher used Codex, OpenAI's coding AI, against other “secure” drives, and one protection fell in about seven minutes. 5. Trigger.dev, a platform for running automated tasks and AI agents, confirmed that an attacker accessed the environment variables of a group of customers, where many companies keep keys and passwords. Source: https://trigger.dev/blog/security-incident-nov-2026
